GitHub is the service that will host your project files and your public web page. A personal account is free and more than enough for everything in this guide.
Click Sign up in the top right and follow the prompts. Choose a username you can live with (it will appear in the public URL of anything you publish), enter your email, and pick a password.
If you get stuck: confirmation email didn’t arrive.
Check your spam folder. Some institutional email systems are aggressive about GitHub. If nothing shows up after a few minutes, there’s usually a Resend confirmation link on the GitHub page you land on. Worst case, use a personal email address instead of your institutional one for this signup.
